Summer Tips for your Dog

Summer is finally here and it’s time to enjoy the sun, sand and beach. However summer comes with many potential dangers for your furry babies. Here are some tips to make the dog days of summer enjoyable and safe for your furry babies:

1. Never leave your dog unattended in a parked car with the windows fully up. Even when the vehicle is in the shade, with the windows fully up it will become an oven in no time. If you see a dog unattended in a parked car with all the windows fully up, try to locate the owner quickly or call animal services.

2. Always have fresh water close. Just like you, when the temperature rises, dogs will dehydrate and will require fresh water.

3. Walk or exercise your dog early in the morning or later in the evening to avoid the scorching sun.

4. Dogs do not sweat like humans to cool themselves down and are prone to heat stroke. Having a cooling coat for the hots days will make the heat more tolerable for your dog.

The tips above are not exhaustive but we hope they will remind you on how to make the summer months enjoyable for your furry babies. If you have any other tips, please add your comments as they are always welcome. Thank you!
